The larger your email list the more potential conversions you can have over the course of the holiday season, including Cyber Week.
Email is a fantastic VITAL tool for the holiday season. And the good news is that there is still plenty of time for you to grow your list before then.
Here are two tried and true strategies you can implement as quickly as today…
- Add the promise of early access to your popups and forum.
- 💄I came across UBEAUTY’s pop up the other day and loved the strategy. They are offering a generous discount to first time email subscribers (although I’d like to see 20% off – I think it’s more compelling especially in October) AND they changed their copy to encourage site visitors to become a VIP.
- 📧 Joining their email and SMS lists give subscribes first access to the brand’s Black Friday sale. I love this for all brands but especially those who have offers with a sell-out risk (IE: limited edition prints or colors or a service provider with a set number of spots open in their program).
HOW TO APPLY IT: Update your copy to include messaging like “Sign up for emails and be the first to know about our Cyber Sale” or “Add your email below to become a VIP. You’ll unlock exclusive content and juicy perks – like first access to our Black Friday Sale.”
2. Collaborate with another brand to host a giveaway.
Giveaways are a great way to grow your email list but they need to be done strategically. Here is how I would create a giveaway right now for the goal of new subs…
- 👯♀️ Collaborate with another brand that has a similar audience / customer to yours (IE: a nail salon partnering with a hair studio). Agree to create a giveaway for something GOOD – no $25 gift cards here. You want what people can win to be something that will motivate them to give you their email.
- 📧 Make the steps EASY for your audience. If your goal is email growth we don’t want to distract from that. Giving your audience A SIMPLE CALL TO ACTION like, “head to the link in our bio and add your email” is key. Now is not the time to try and double down. If you want targeted growth to one platform you can’t ask your audience to like, comment, tag, share AND add their email to a signup form. It just won’t work. Keep it simple. You can always do another giveaway for follower growth next month.
- 🎁 Market your giveaway. Run it for three to four days to create urgency. Post about it on stories everyday.
- 👏 Announce your winner on stories and in email. Share a coupon code for both brands in that email to all new subs to thank them for entering. This still makes everyone feel like a winner.
